Rentals in demand: West Village, one-bedrooms

The West Village was the most in-demand neighborhood for tenants looking for a rental apartment in Manhattan in the last week, according to data from apartment listings website Zumper.

Rounding out the top five neighborhoods getting the most heat were, in order, the Upper West Side, Hell’s Kitchen, the Theater District and a tie between Greenwich Village and the Upper East Side, the data show.

Greenwich Village took the lead the prior week.

In terms of unit types, one-bedroom apartments were again the most popular, comprising 55.8 percent of renter inquiries to brokers. The median rent query was for $2,747.50 per month. Last week, one-bedrooms were also in the lead, with 54 percent of renter queries.

Studios and two-bedrooms both saw a median query of 15.4 percent, respectively. Three-bedrooms trailed with 13.4 percent.

Median rent inquiries were $2,187.50 for studios, $2,647.50 for two-bedrooms and $3,700 for three-bedrooms, the data show.
