With nearly $400 million in sales last year, Serena Boardman of Sotheby’s International Realty edged out Brown Harris Stevens’ Kyle Blackmon as the top broker in the New York City area, according to REAL Trends’ regional breakdown of its Best Real Estate Agents in America list, released today.
REAL Trends, which ranked agents nationwide by their 2012 closed sales, for the first time broke out the list by metropolitan area, classifying the top brokers in the New York City-Newark-Jersey City region.
With sales of $393,742,540, Boardman bested Blackmon’s $328,875,500 total. She was ranked No. 2 among brokers across the U.S., while Blackmon came in at No. 6.
Hot on his heels was John Burger – also from Brown Harris Stevens – who came in with sales of $326,513,210. In fourth place was Roger Erickson of Sotheby’s, with $254,095,000 in sales. Hamptons broker Susan Breitenbach of the Corcoran Group rounded out the top five with sales of $248,601,647.
As for broker teams in the region, Corcoran’s Carrie Chiang and Janet Wang topped the list with a cool $388,906,508. The Deborah Grubman Team – also from Corcoran – came in second with $251,840,500 in sales. Douglas Elliman made a strong showing on the team front as well, with the firm’s Leonard Steinberg team ($235,296,284), the Eklund-Gomes group ($218,881,160) and the DeNiro group ($179,847,509) rounding out the top five.
REAL Trends’ list relies on applications submitted for closed sales, and verifies prices to the thousand. To be included on the list, individuals must close more than 50 sides, or $20 million, and sales teams must close more than 75 sides or clear $30 million in closed sales volume.
