Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn is still on the hunt for a pad in Chelsea, this time taking a look at an $11,000-a-month rental apartment at 343 West 29th Street, the New York Post reported.
The three-bedroom, 2,400-square-foot duplex is in a landmarked townhouse in the Lamartine Place Historic Distict, significant because it was a stop on the city’s underground railroad.
The apartment sports an eat-in chef’s kitchen, two gas fireplaces, two Philippe Starck-designed bathrooms and a two-level private garden.
Burstyn passed on a two-bedroom, two-bathroom rental at 515 West 23rd Street that was asking $12,000 a month, according to the Post.
If the “Exorcist” star grabs the 29th Street space, she would be neighbors with New York Times journalist Jacob Bernstein, who paid $950,000 last year for a two-bedroom co-op next door. [NYP] – Hiten Samtani
