Rentals in demand: New or remodeled units, Upper West Side

The most important feature for apartment hunters in the last week was that a Manhattan rental be new or recently remodeled, according to data from apartment listings website Zumper. The other top ranked popular features included built-in heating or cooling, quiet, natural light and closet space.

“This is an important message to landlords that they should consider updating dated kitchens and baths before marketing vacancies,” Zumper COO Taylor Glass-Moore told The Real Deal.

In terms of neighborhoods, the Upper West Side was the most in-demand in the last week. Rounding out the top neighborhoods were, in order, Midtown East, the Upper East Side, the East Village and Harlem.
