DMV parks new office at 21 Penn Plaza
Feil, Savanna charged agency more than asking rent due to renovation cost
The Department of Motor Vehicles is pulling into a space at 21 Penn Plaza, a 17-story building near Hudson Yards that is jointly owned by the Feil Organization and Savanna.
The agency inked a 27,000-square-foot, 10-year lease that will cover the full second floor and 1,400-square-foot storefront. This gives the DMV its own lobby, in addition to the two lobbies for office tenants at the 320,000-square foot building, which is located near West 31st Street and Ninth Avenue.
Asking rent in the building is $46 per square foot, but the owners charged the DMV more, in order to cover the costs of construction on the separate entrance, Crain’s reported. The DMV is currently at 300 West 34th Street in Herald Square.
Jeff Rosenblatt of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented the DMV in the deal, while Randall Briskin of the Feil Organization represented the landlords. [Crain’s] – Mark Maurer
