After a week away from the top, the Upper East Side rebounded as the most in-demand neighborhood for prospective tenants in Manhattan, according to data from apartment listings website Zumper.
The Upper West Side, last week’s victor, took second place, while Kips Bay, Hell’s Kitchen and the Flatiron District rounded the top five. Among renter inquiries to brokers, studio apartments held the dominant position. One- and two-bedrooms have been battling it out in recent months. Studios had 36 percent of the leads and a median rent inquiry of $1,450 a month.
One-bedrooms saw 29 percent of the leads and a $2,200-per-month median rent inquiry. Two-bedrooms had 23 percent and a $2,250-per-month median inquiry, the Zumper figures show.
“We saw a drop in demand for one-bedrooms and a doubling in demand for studios,” Zumper Chief Operating Officer Taylor Glass-Moore told The Real Deal. “Median inquiries dropped marginally across all unit types.”
