From Luxury Listings NYC: Ryan Serhant, star of Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing New York,” last night stood at the corner of West 24th Street and the West Side Highway, his eyes turned to a purple glow emanating from the windows of a condominium one block east.
“Here’s hoping we don’t cause any fender-benders over here with people looking up,” he joked with several members of his Nest Seekers International team who stood near him, snapping shots of the light on their cell phones.
The apple of their eyes — and phones — was an under-construction duplex penthouse at 200 11th Avenue that Serhant intends to bring to market for just north of $20 million.
The broker said he lit it lavender for several reasons, the most prominent one being New York Fashion Week, which lasts until Sept. 12. The penthouse will stay illuminated until the fashion festivities end, and is meant to attract as many looks as the models strutting the runway.
“It controls so much space,” Serhant said of the home. “We’re clearly defining what the apartment is up there.”
The 3,248-square-foot condo is undergoing a major makeover courtesy Dutch architecture firm MVRDV, and was slated to hit the market this month with a price tag of up to $23 million, as The Real Deal reported in June. (Serhant declined to specify when the listing would go live.)
Serhant is no stranger to promoting listings during Fashion Week, telling The Real Deal early this year that he’s “gone balls to the wall each [Fashion Week] for the last few years.” In the past, he’s thrown a Fashion Week-themed party across from the event’s hub at Lincoln Center to promote a $3.95 million listing at 61 West 62nd Street — whose sale closes this week — and did a brief stint as a runway model in 2012.
Besides the temporary purple lighting, the West Chelsea penthouse features an en suite “sky car garage” that lets the buyer park a car at the apartment’s entry level.
