Bad boy marketing maven Michael Shvo has brought a bit of the ‘burbs to West Chelsea, with a fence and lawn — a shvlawn? — gracing the curb in front of an area gas station.
The green space is to host a temporary art program starting Sept. 16, with the first exhibit, “Sheep Station,” featuring the work of the late Surrealist sculptor Francois-Xavier Lalanne.

The exhibit, which will include 25 of the artist’s works, runs through Oct. 20.
Shvo, who purchased the Getty gas station on West 24th Street and 10th Avenue in partnership with Victor Homes, paid a record price of $800 per buildable square foot for the spot.
The newly groomed green patch is destined to become luxury
condominiums. Previously, Shvo planted a wall of fir trees on the site.
Shvo has since been in talks to pick up additional sites in Soho and Midtown from mega-developer Gary Barnett. He would reportedly put up a residential building at both 100 Varick Street and 16-18 West 57th Street. [Luxury Loft] and [NYT] — Julie Strickland
