Syria conflict produces Willamsburg apartment steal
Renter flees politically engaged roommate, leaving behind a coveted $800 a month rental
Using military force in Syria is a divisive issue, but in Williamsburg it is dividing up real estate. One Williamsburg renter is done with his roommate’s constant Syria babble and is leaving a coveted $800 a month bedroom.
In a Craigslist ad cited by the New York Observer and FreeWilliamsburg, a fed up North Brooklyn renter says: “I’d like to return to my apartment, but I know that as soon as I do, I’ll be confronted by a roommate with opinions on the Syria conflict and a determination to share them with me. “
The apartment is more than three times cheaper than the average $2,817 a month rent for the area, and is available immediately according to the ad.
Apparently situated between the L, JMZ and G trains, the apartment advertises exposed brick and high ceilings – desirable but only if you are willing to put up with conversations like “Oh really, Mike? ‘Apathy towards the Middle East is bankrupting the nation’s morality?’ Stop using my shampoo. “ [NYO] –Christopher Cameron
