The hotel conversion of a three-story Greenpoint loft building has left tenants hurrying to find a new home.

Tenants on the top two floors at 233 Norman Avenue said they were given one month’s notice they would be evicted. Those on the ground floor said building owner Joe Torres never informed them of their fate.

Controversial architecture firm Scarano Architects is heading up the redesign at 233 Norman Avenue. In 2010, a judge stripped Robert Scarano of his ability to certify his own projects because of repeated phony construction documents.

Torres had plans for the hotel prepared in 2006, but held off on them until just before the city approval earlier this month. [Brooklyn Paper]Mark Maurer
