Boymelgreen’s controversial Newswalk condos fetch hefty resale profits
Shaya Boymelgreen’s Newswalk condominium conversion in Downtown Brooklyn, despite a heap of lawsuits and controversy over allegedly shoddy construction, appears to be raking in the profits as buyers who moved in around 2006 sell some of the loft-esque units.
Casting executive Geoffrey Soffer and his husband Joaquin Esteva, who closed on a 966-square-foot one-bedroom in 2007 for $535,599, for instance, just put their pad on the market with a $739,000 ask. Another unit sold in June for $796,000, or 14.5 percent above its $695,000 ask. And a two-bedroom purchased for $649,000 in 2007 went into contract this week for $825,000 after less than two months on the market. [Curbed] — Julie Strickland
