The Upper East Side townhouse originally erected for Douglas Ludlow Elliman, the founder of his namesake brokerage, has hit the market for $18.25 million.
The six-story Neo-Federal building at 177 East 71st Street last sold for $9.5 million in 2006 – and for $5 million seven years before that. It has eight bedrooms, six bathrooms, a roof garden and six wood-burning fireplaces.
Samuel Milbank of Brown Harris Stevens has the listing.
Architect S.E. Gage built it in 1909 for Elliman and his wife Theodora. Elliman established the brokerage on Madison Avenue two years later. [Curbed] — Mark Maurer
