Zeckendorf Development and Global Holdings launched sales of the luxury 50 United Nations Plaza condominiums today, located directly across from U.N. headquarters.

The 88-unit property offers apartments ranging from 1,147-square-foot one-bedrooms to a triplex penthouse measuring 15,597 square feet, priced at $100 million. The building is slated for completion in late 2014.

Designed by Foster + Partners, the property is adjacent to Dag Hammarskjold Plaza at First Avenue and 46th Street.

“This neighborhood is of great personal significance to my brother Arthur and I, as our maternal grandfather Trygve Lie was the first U.N. Secretary General, and our paternal grandfather assembled the land upon which the U.N. Secretariat building now stands,” William Zeckendorf, co-chairman of Zeckendorf Development, said in a release. The developer is handling marketing and sales in-house.

The building’s exterior is to feature deep bay windows, a horizontal grid of stainless steel tubes that will wrap around the building and reflective panels running vertically between the faceted windows. — Julie Strickland
