Pratt Institute’s Brooklyn Fashion and Design Accelerator, a program offering bargain-priced studio space to fashion designers fleeing Manhattan, is setting up shop in the former Pfizer building at 630 Flushing Avenue in Williamsburg.
Rents in the spaces on offer will range from $300 to $1,200 per month for participants, and production facilities will accommodate runs of up to 50 units, a setup for both small-scale operations and established businesses with orders of 500 units or more.
The 30 chosen design entrepreneurs can begin moving into the mentoring and production space at the beginning of 2014. [WSJ] — Julie Strickland
