The owners of Uncle Barry’s sports bar in Park Slope have given up their plan to open a bar in Prospect Heights amid a dispute with Community Board 8’s state liquor authority advisory committee
Jake Trebach and his partners, who run Uncle Barry’s at 58 Fifth Avenue, intended to open Moot Hall on Washington Avenue, but now the community board’s aggressive, hostile vetting process has led to several delays, they claim.
Instead, Trebach told DNAinfo he will look elsewhere in Brooklyn, such as Bedford-Stuyvesant, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
“I have no reason to deal with these people again — they just cost us too much money,” Trebach told the website. “If we were Applebees or Fridays we could stand the hit, but we don’t have money to play with.”
The community board did not comment to DNAinfo for the article. [DNAinfo] — Mark Maurer
