Scaffolding that appears to be from an under-construction restaurant at a Handler Real Estate-owned building in the Times Square district collapsed around 10 a.m. today, injuring three people.
The scaffolding from the restaurant, located at 561 Seventh Avenue at West 40th Street near Parsons The New School for Design, came tumbling down during a time when wind speeds were higher than usual at 43 mph, but far lower than the 58 mph that triggers a high-wind warning from the city, the New York Daily News reported. Firefighters were at the scene within minutes, according to the newspaper.
The News did not have further details of the condition or identities of those injured. [NYDN] – Hiten Samtani
