Not far from the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in East Williamsburg, a 133-unit apartment building is in the works.
The corner lot at 125 Borinquen Place currently holds a one-story former car wash building that has had the same owner, Grand Residences LLC, for 40 years. Plans – which have yet to be filed with the Department of Buildings – call for seven stories, including 89,205 square feet of residential space, 977 square feet of commercial space and 68 covered parking spots. It is unknown whether the apartment portion will be rentals or condominiums. Financial District-based DJLU Architect is serving as designer, Brownstoner reported.
The property also has frontage on South 1st and Rodney streets. [Brownstoner] — Mark Maurer
