Architect Ariel Aufgang has picked up a second design project in the Hudson Yards area with a 187-unit building at 411 West 35th Street.
The 12-story, 178,405-square-foot property will have 908 square feet of community facility space, 14,586 square feet of commercial and 162,911 square feet of residential space, as well as underground parking, bike storage and a recreation room.
The corner site is a block away from another Aufgang project — a hotel at 444 10th Avenue.
The site, currently a parking lot, is being developed by West 35th Street SBXLVI LLC, according to Department of Buildings records cited by BuzzBuzzHome, and joins a flurry of activity in the area.
Most recently, Hudson Yards developer Related Companies picked up another commercial site in the neighborhood at 517 West 35th Street for an unspecified price. Related’s 420-room hotel project at 448 11th Avenue was refreshed with a $40 million loan secured early last month, and the developer — along with Amtrak — broke ground on an 800-foot train tunnel in September that is aimed for an October 2015 completion.
