Residents of Bedford-Stuyvesant’s Skillman Street say they are plagued with loud noise, splintered sidewalks and leftover trash from Velocity Framers’ construction between Willoughby and DeKalb avenues.
A total of four buildings are slated to go up on the street, with two currently under way. Construction on all four is scheduled for completion by 2015. The addresses of the four new properties were not specified.
The work, which neighbors told DNAinfo sometimes gears up as early as 7 a.m. on Sundays, is also causing other buildings to shake. Dust, dirt and debris blow onto the sidwalks, and heavy vehicles parked off the street have caused them to crack.
Velocity, however, told DNAinfo that they haven’t heard a peep of complaint until now, and that the parking situation can’t be helped.
“Some days it’s full, no spots,” Joe Rosen, a Veolicity employee, told DNAinfo. “There comes a delivery, where do we put it?” [DNAinfo] — Julie Strickland
