Danny Meyer, the celebrity chef behind Shake Shack, is bringing an eatery to the lobby of the new Shakespeare theater in Downtown Brooklyn.
At a meeting Wednesday, Meyer won over Community Board 2 in his quest for a liquor license for the cafe at the Theatre for a New Audience, located at 262 Ashland Place.
“Danny Meyer is known as a good neighbor,” Union Square Hospitality Group’s Austin Publicover told CB2’s Health, Environment and Social Services Committee, according to the Brooklyn Eagle.
The café would be “an amenity for our patrons,” the theater’s managing director Dorothy Ryan told the Eagle, and would only be open on performance days. The theater debuted with a production of “Midsummer Night’s Dream” last weekend. [Brooklyn Eagle] – Hiten Samtani
