From the South Florida site: Retired slugger Sammy Sosa has purchased an oceanfront home in Golden Beach, Fla., for $7.6 million, The Real Deal has learned.
Sosa, who hit 609 home runs during a lengthy Major League Baseball career, acquired a two-story, seven-bedroom estate at 667 Ocean Boulevard, according to a statement from the listing broker. Built in 1998, the 7,273-square-foot home has eight-and-a-half bathrooms and 75 feet of direct oceanfront views. The property last sold for $6.4 million in 2002.
A gated community in the northeast corner of Miami-Dade County, Golden Beach is coveted by high-end home buyers who seek privacy. It is located between the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean.
EWM/Christie’s broker Nelson Gonzalez listed the home, while Dana Kaufman served as selling agent in the transaction.
“Sammy is a big fan of Miami, and it’s wonderful that he has chosen to purchase a home here,” Gonzalez said. “This is one of the most beautiful homes in all of Golden Beach.” — Eric Kalis
