Walker Tower’s Penthouse Two hit the market Friday with an asking price of $47.5 million. The five-bedroom, 6,515-square-foot home is located on the 23rd floor of JDS Development and Property Markets Group’s condominium building at 212 West 18th Street in Chelsea.
Larger than its upstairs neighbor, Penthouse One, which went into contract for $55 million at the end of October after less than a month on the market, Penthouse Two is one of only three units that remains up for grabs at the conversion.
The posh digs boast three wood-burning fireplaces, a 463-square-foot terrace, 12-foot ceilings, radiant heated flooring and a cast-iron bathtub overlooking Lower Manhattan, JDS founder Michael Stern told the Wall Street Journal.
“We saw very strong demand,” Stern told the Journal of Penthouse One. “The expectation is that some of those interested parties will take an interest in this one.”
Buyers are expected to begin moving into their purchased units next month, Douglas Elliman’s Vickey Barron, director of sales at Walker Tower, told the Journal. The building is currently still under construction. [WSJ] — Julie Strickland
