UPDATED, 4:37 p.m., Dec. 6: Tribeca’s 144 Duane Street, a former shoe warehouse converted to residential use in 2001, has sold for $43 million, a record for the week.
The anonymous buyer did not use a broker, while the mysterious seller was represented by Leonard Steinberg, Yoko Sanada and Herve Senequier of Douglas Elliman. The six-story building hit the market shortly after conversion, which created an 11,000-square-foot triplex on the fourth, fifth and sixth floors and two full-floor lofts on the second and third floors, originally asking $45 million. Last year the ask was upped to $49.5 million, the New York Times reported.
Among the refurbished building’s flourishes are a basement with a private gym, half-court basketball court and an elevator. [NYT] — Julie Strickland
