Plans for the Salvation Army shelter and community center-turned-hotel at 225 Bowery are beginning to emerge.
The future Ace Hotel will have 178 rooms, and the architect is Nataliya Donskoy, according to city Department of Buildings documents. The renovations on the 57,793-square-foot, 10-story space are estimated total cost is $5 million, and the site will include a food spot on the first floor, the records show.
The Omnia Group, also the developing team on a residential conversion at 154 East 23rd Street in Gramercy Park, is developing the hotel. BuzzBuzzHome first spotted the DOB records, filed on Dec. 13.
The hotel, described as a “distilled service” venture — a pricey hotel with a “faux-hostel vibe” — is a departure from the original plan to convert the space into apartments. [BuzzBuzzHome] — Julie Strickland
