WEEKENDEDITION An unusual and somewhat morbid listing has hit the market in Borough Park. The property currently functions as a museum, which claims to have every animal mentioned in the Torah on display — about 350 species, all in taxidermy form.

Rabbi Shaul Shimon Deutsch purchased the bizarre two-bedroom, three-bathroom home in 2007 for $850,000 and subsequently transformed it into the Torah Animal Museum. Now the property, located at 1605 41st Street, is asking $955,000, according to Curbed.

At the museum’s height it boasted approximately 35,000 visitors a year. The rabbi, who also runs the Living Torah Museum next door, summarizes his educational philosophy as: “If you touch history, it touches you.” [Curbed]Christopher Cameron
