After more than a year of weighing a move to 3 World Trade Center, advertising and media company GroupM committed to anchoring the Silverstein Properties office tower, the developer said.
The 20-year lease covers 516,000 square feet over the lower nine floors of the 80-story Lower Manhattan building. Designed by Richard Rogers of Rogers Stirk Harbor + Partners, the tower is under construction and expected to be ready by 2017, a release said.
GroupM plans to merge its New York City staff of 2,400 – from 498 Seventh Avenue, among other outposts – into the single headquarters space.
CBRE Group brokers Lauren Crowley Corrinet, Gregory Tosko, Brendan Herlihy, and Mary Ann Tighe represented the tenant. Silverstein’s Jeremy Moss represented Silverstein in-house. — Mark Maurer
