Fashion retailers aren’t the only tenants in Rockefeller Center upgrading the building’s 1940s interior: First Republic Bank is expanding its space at 1230 Avenue of the Americas.

The bank has added 38,000 square feet to take over the entire seventh floor, as well as added space on the second and third floors.

The deal, arranged for the bank by Frank Doyle and David Kleiner of Jones Lang LaSalle, brings its total slice of the Gensler-owned building to 150,000 square feet, the New York Post reported.

Though the rent was not disclosed, asking rents in similar spaces clock in at $60 per square foot, the Post said. That’s not surprising given that Midtown office rents recently pushed past an average of $80 per square foot. [NYP, 1st item] — Angela Hunt
