Danish designer reimagines sustainable homes
Shipping containers have long been repurposed for everything from boutique shops to micro-homes. But the Danish architecture firm Lendager Arkitekter has taken the concept to another level in terms of design, sustainability and luxury.
Upcycle House is environmentally sustainable housing concept with a $310,000 construction budget. Using out-of-commission containers and everything from recycled aluminum soda cans and reused bricks, to champagne corks and recycled glass tiles as building materials, Arkitekter wants to create a living space that is both environmentally friendly and economical.
And in the end, Upcycle House produced roughly 86 percent fewer CO2 emissions than the average home-build, according to Curbed. [Curbed] –Christopher Cameron
