Babe Ruth’s former Shelter Island getaway asks $7.8M

A 22.5-acre Shelter Island property that was once a summer getaway for baseball titan Babe Ruth has hit the market asking $7.8 million.

The property at 6 Daniel Lord Road has over 1,500 feet of water frontage and holds a 2,229-square-foot, 2.5-story home with five bedrooms and a brick fireplace, according to the listing with Saunders & Associates’ Penelope Moore. Long after the Bambino summered there, children would scour the woods for baseballs he may have left behind, according to the New York Post.
