Seven-time Grammy winner John Mayer sells Soho pad for $4M
Grammy Award-winning musician John Mayer sold his Manhattan apartment at 225 Lafayette Street for $3.91 million, according to public records filed with the city late last month.
The singer-songwriter put the two-bedroom, two-bathroom Soho unit up for sale in October, asking $3.89 million, listings website StreetEasy shows.
Susan Raanan of Brown Harris Stevens had the listing for the property. The identity of the buyer, who purchased the unit via an LLC, was not clear.
Raanan declined to comment, while a representative for Mayer could not immediately be reached.
Mayer purchased the 2,063-square-foot property for $2.17 million in 2005 under the name Homelife, LLC. “Home Life” is also the title of a song from Mayer’s 2003 album “Heavier Things.”
He moved to a Montana ranch in 2012 to escape the spotlight after a series of interviews referencing former girlfriends such as Hollywood sweetheart Jessica Simpson landed him on the front page of the gossip rags.
The corner apartment, located at Spring and Lafayette streets, has Brazilian walnut floors and city views. The building, a 1924 Beaux Arts former bank, has a 24-hour doorman and roof deck.
The building is also home to celebs such as actress Dakota Fanning and model Theodora Richards, according to previous reports.
Mayer is currently dating “Firework” singer Katy Perry, with whom he sang with on his most recent record. The pair was seen partying together at last night’s Grammy Awards.
