Pumpkin Key, a 26-acre private island just off Key Largo in the Florida Keys, has listed for $110 million, making it 2014’s priciest new listing, according to Curbed.
For such a tremendous asking price, the island’s three-bedroom house is fairly simple. But with 11 developable lots on the property, that shouldn’t be too big of a problem for any ambitious billionaire.
The island also includes tennis courts, a couple of caretaker’s cottages, a dock master’s apartment and a 20-slip marina that is “able to accommodate a mega-yacht,” according to the listing with Sotheby’s International Realty.
Pumpkin Key is competing with a $130 million estate in Greenwich, Conn. for the bragging rights of being the U.S.’s priciest residential listing. The Greenwich property recently relisted with its price reduced to the $130 million figure. However, that property first hit the market in May 2013, making Pumpkin Key the priciest new property to list in 2014. [Curbed] –Christopher Cameron
