SHoP Architects will be designing Anbau Enterprises’ upcoming “affordable luxury” residential project at 1711 First Avenue on the Upper East Side.
Construction on the 150,000-square-foot development is slated to start later this year and finish in 2016.
While building plans have not yet been filed, the building is one of three pegged for redevelopment, as The Real Deal previously reported.
Anbau snapped up the property, along with two others at 1713 and 1915 First Avenue, for just over $33 million last year. Most of the site was previously been set to become condominiums, in 2008, before the economic downtown.
In 2011, owner Uri Foxbrunner defaulted on mortgages for two of the properties — at 1711 And 1713 First Avenue — and sold the third, at 1715 First Avenue, to a limited liability corporation for $5 million. [BuzzBuzzHome] — Julie Strickland
