WEEKENDEDITION A new building designed by ubiquitous architect Gene Kaufman is coming to 100 Bogart Street in Bushwick, and in an unusual move, the structure won’t have any apartments — just artist studios and retail.

Last month a permit was filed for a six-story, 46,900-square-foot development at the site, according to Buzzbuzzhome. The lot, located at the corner of Johnson Avenue and Bogart Street, is currently home to a warehouse. Demolition permits have not yet been filed.

In February 2013, IBK Construction acquired the property for $3.472 million, according to public records spotted by Buzzbuzzhome.

In a recent lease listing for the project’s 4,000-square-foot retail space, the broker calls the location a “rare warehouse conversion in one of Brooklyn’s hippest neighborhoods.” The listing also mentions that the retail portion of the project will have 22-foot-tall ceilings that would be “ideal for galleries, studios, and light production facilities.” [Buzzbuzzhome]Christopher Cameron
