After a lengthy delay — and a $3,000 fine levied by the Landmarks Preservation Commission — restoration of the Coignet Building is finally underway.
Scaffolding is up in the skinny space between the Coignet at 360 Third Avenue and the new Gowanus Whole Foods at 214 3rd Street, Gowanus Your Face Off reported. A “work in progress” sign has also gone up on the site which gives a few details about the restoration and the property’s work permit. A projected completion date is indicated as late 2014.
Building owner Richard Kowalski still has the building up for sale, asking $3 million. [GYFO] — Julie Strickland
