The family of Menachem Stark will be receiving winnings from a raffle won by the slain Brooklyn developer, whose body was found in a Long Island dumpster two months ago.
Stark, whose kidnapping and murder is still under investigation, bought 100 tickets for $1 each last year in a synagogue raffle to help poor families with wedding expenses. Stark won the raffle, which was held on Wednesday. His family will receive his $18,000 prize.
“There’s no way in the world that the money will replace him,” Isaac Abraham, a family friend, told the Post. Stark owed millions of dollars to contractors, loan sharks and other creditors before he died, according to the Post.
The developer, who owned dozens of properties throughout New York City, has been called a slumlord by some media outlets for racking up housing violations, as The Real Deal previously reported. [NYP] — Angela Hunt
