The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is currently reviewing requests for proposals for the LaGuardia Airport renovation, a $2.4 billion project that is expected to be done by 2021. The agency hopes to announce an approved development plan in the next few weeks.
Neoscape, a Union Square-based design firm, has unveiled proposed renderings that it created for advocacy nonprofit Global Gateway Group, the New York Post reported. The Port Authority set certain guidelines on which Neoscape based its designs. The airport will be expanded to 1.3 million square feet — a growth of about one-third from the LaGuardia’s current size – and potentially offer connections to an upcoming subway line.
“This comprehensive vision integrates a modern, efficient and innovative design, including the striking all-glass facade, into LaGuardia’s main terminal,” Joseph Sitt, founder of Thor Equities and chair of the Global Gateway Alliance, told the New York Post.
