WEEKENDEDITION A Canadian real estate developer is borrowing a bit of New York City branding, dubbing  a new condo development: “Manhattan Upper West Side.”

The three-building, 48-unit development in the tiny town of Barrie, Ontario — 60 miles north of Toronto – is advertising itself a place “where urban meets nature,” according to the New York Post. The developer has named the three buildings: Rockefeller, Bloomingdale and Empire.

And, naturally, true Upper West Siders are indignant.

“In a million years it could never be the Upper West Side,” Alexandra Wu, 87, an Upper West Sider for nearly 60 years, told the Post. “I really resent these people coming in and grabbing our name — they really have no clue.” [NYP] Christopher Cameron
