Demand for Hell’s Kitchen rental apartments soared last week, especially for moderately priced two-bedrooms, according to Zumper, an apartment listings website.
The neighborhood, however, could not top the Upper East Side, which was the most popular spot in Manhattan for prospective renters. Hell’s Kitchen Took Second Place, and was followed by the Upper West Side, East Village and Kips Bay. The priciest inquiry was for a three-bedroom in Midtown for $5,595 per month, while the cheapest was for a $1,050 studio in East Harlem, Zumper data show.
Studios and two-bedrooms dominated with 33 percent and 35 percent of the leads, respectively. Median inquiries for the apartment sizes were $1,700 and $2,950. One-bedrooms had 22 percent and three-bedrooms had 10 percent.
Methodology: Zumper determined the rankings by using a representative sample of emails and phone calls from renters interested in its Manhattan listings available for the week ending May 11. — Mark Maurer
