Renderings of a tower that could be coming to the site of a former Mercedes-Benz dealership on West 41st Street have turned up and they are, if anything, extremely ambitious.
Silverstein Properties is developing the massive residential tower at 514 Eleventh Avenue, which wants to bring a massive 1,100 foot “high-rise luxury, mixed-use development” to the site.
But neighbors have already begun to complain about the height of the tower, and a letter has been drafted to the Department of Planning requesting the developer scale it down, according to Gothamist.
However, renderings aside, it remains unclear exactly what shape the development will take. Initially, Silverstein said it was planning a single tower, but the recent renderings from Oppenheim Architecture + Design depict a set of towers — connected by a pyramid-esque walkway.
According to New York Yimby, these ambitious renderings are likely outdated, and a single tower is more likely to rise at the site. [Gothamist] – Christopher Cameron
