Brookfield Office Properties filed its first plans yesterday for the 64-story residential tower at Manhattan West at 401 West 31st Street.
The 756,674-square-foot structure is set to hold 790 apartments and rise 702 feet. The retail section will span about 3,400 square feet on the ground floor. SLCE is serving as the architect of record, while SOM is handling design.
The developer intends to wrap construction in six years. The development is a five-acre complex bound by Ninth and 10th avenues and West 31st and West 33rd streets and positioned a block away from Related’s massive Hudson Yards project. Construction began on the site in 2012. [NY Yimby] — Mark Maurer
