Uber, the startup that finds taxis for users from among a pool of nearby drivers, inked a 10-year lease for 52,350 square feet at Waterfront New York Realty’s Terminal Stores building in Chelsea.
The new office, on the third floor of 636-638 West 28th Street, will allow Uber to expand from a staff of 50 to more than 275. The tenant will pay in the mid- to high-$40s per square foot for the space and a private elevator. The deal comes with an option to expand, the New York Post reported.
Christopher Flagg, Chris Pachios and Peter Pachios of Waterfront represented the landlord in-house. JLL brokers Alexander Chudnoff, Brittany Wunsch and Dan Turkewitz represented the tenant.
Uber now occupies 3,500 square feet in Long Island City, at 27-55 Jackson Avenue, which it first leased in 2012. [NYP] — Mark Maurer
