The New York City Department of Buildings approved the construction of a 19-story hotel building on the Bowery.
CitizenM, which also has a state-of-the-art location on Times Square, will rise at 185-189 Bowery. While the DOB green-lighted the plan, permits have not yet been issued. The 79,556 square-feet building will be 219 feet tall and include 300 rooms.
Each floor will contain 20 units, and the building will have a rooftop bar and terrace as well as a gym and bike storage.
From 2007 to 2009, Brack Capital Real Estate Group acquired the row of old buildings that will provide the space for the proposed new hotel. As of March 2012, 185-189 Bowery were torn down. [Bowery Boogie] — Claire Moses
