Cushman & Wakefield is taking over leasing efforts from SL Green Realty at 16 East 34th Street, The Real Deal has learned. The 22-story, 336,500-square-foot office building is located between Madison and Fifth Avenues, and is home to Cornell University’s school of industrial relations.
Cushman’s Joshua Goldman is transitioning into the new assignment on behalf of the landlord, Wohio Holding, according to multiple sources familiar with the deal.
An SL Green team led by Lawrence Swiger and Jeremy Bier currently handle leasing at the building.
Goldman declined to comment, and representatives for SL Green didn’t respond to requests for comment by press time.
Nonprofit education and social research organization MDRC is the property’s anchor tenant, with over 85,000 square feet of space on the building’s upper floors, according to CoStar Group data. Staples occupies 2,000 square feet of the building’s ground-floor retail space. The property is almost 98 percent leased up, according to CoStar.
In 2011, Wohio sued its previous property manager, Loeb Partners Realty, in New York State Supreme Court to terminate Loeb as the building’s managing agent.
Cushman scored a major property management coup in April, when it struck a deal with Citigroup to manage the banking giant’s entire 27 million-square-foot presence in the U.S.
