WEEKENDEDITION Last November, the world got its first glimpse of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar when renderings of the Zaha Hadid-designed stadium were released. Now, the renderings for the second World Cup stadium are out, and they are far more conservative than what Hadid had to offer.

The stadium is planned for the city of Al Khor City and the design has been in the works long before the initial November reveal, according to Buzzbuzzhome.

According to ArchDaily, the design – by an unnamed firm — is “an entirely Qatari concept, reflecting Qatar’s proud history and culture.” Apparently the 60,000 seat stadium’s design references the Bayt Al Sha’ar, a black and white tent used by the country’s nomadic people.

Few additional details on the stadium are out, but Dar Al Handasah has been named as a design consultant. [Buzzbuzzhome]Christopher Cameron
