The Port Authority Bus Terminal is getting $90 million for upgrades and improvements, marking the first major investment in the transportation hub in more than three decades.

The money will come from the Port Authority’s $27.6 billion 10-year capital fund, DNAinfo reported. The authority has not chosen specific projects yet, and any improvements will need approval of its board.

In April, Hell’s Kitchen residents asked the Port Authority to move forward plans for a proposed bus garage that would cut down traffic congestion in the area by providing direct access to the Lincoln Tunnel. That project would cost $400 million, according to reports at the time. [DNAinfo]Tom DiChristopher
