Janus Property Company and Monadnock Construction unveiled a more detailed look at its $135 million redevelopment of the former Taystee Cake Bakery in Harlem.
The 300,000-square-foot mixed-use development at 426-458 West 126th Street, between Amsterdam and Morningside avenues, is set to rise 11 stories. The hub is intended for 10 to 30 businesses and nonprofits is expected to open next year, but no tenants have signed leases there yet. Asking prices for leasing will average $45 per square foot.
Chelsea-based Leven Betts Studio is serving as the design architect.
“The building is organized into four volumes – two thin white lobby and circulation towers and two wide black commercial blocks,” the architect said, as cited by New York YIMBY.
Last year, Janus and Monadnock jointly paid $3.4 million for the site, as The Real Deal reported. [NY YIMBY] — Mark Maurer
