Congressman Charles Rangel is still $68,000 behind on the rent for his district office in Harlem’s Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building, according to the state.
“The outstanding $68K covers the time period from January 2013 until September 2013,” state Office of General Services spokeswoman Heather Groll told the New York Post.
The bill includes $67,569 for rent and $1,000 worth of renovation charges from 2009 to 2012, according to the Post.
Yet Democrat Rangel, who’s served 22 terms in the House, claims he is up to date on payments.
“We are waiting for the NY state and the House administration to resolve their differences,” Rangel spokeswoman Hannah Kim said. “Our rent is current, and we have money in the reserves.” [NYP] – Christopher Cameron
