New York-based real estate firm Parkwood Realty Associates plans to construct a three-story residential addition on top of the Crunch gym on the Upper West Side.
The 22 apartments would expand the height of the two-story, 13,000-square-foot commercial building at 158-162 West 83rd Street, near Amsterdam Avenue, from 25 to roughly 70 feet tall. SRA Architecture & Engineering is handling the project.
Parkwood acquired the building for $12.5 million in 2006. The gym was formerly the site of a post office. It is unknown whether the apartments will be condominiums or rentals. [Curbed] — Mark Maurer
