Alma Realty must resubmit application for LIC resi project

Delayed development slated to hold two 18-story towers with 232 residential units

Alma Realty’s long-planned residential development in Long Island City, known at one point as Alma Towers, is yawning back to life.

The developer’s plans for the project initially hit the airwaves in 2010, and at the time called for two residential towers stretching 20 stories each. Now, a new building permit has been issued for the 34-46 Vernon Boulevard site, calling for an updated job application before work can start. Previous permits for excavation work were issued last summer, but the site has been quiet since then.

As they stand now, the plans call for a slightly shorter 18-story building with 232 units, Brownstoner reported. No new renderings have yet been issued since the size was reduced — the image above harkens back to the previous plan for 20 stories.

Alma Realty is also currently working on the 1,723-unit Astoria Cove project, which is slated to include 345 apartments for low-income households and 700 units for moderate-income families, as previously reported. [Brownstoner] and [Curbed]Julie Strickland
