Silvercup Studios filed special permit renewals to revive its long-delayed $1 billion expansion project.
The land use committee for Queens Community Board 2 is set to review the Long Island City film and TV production studio’s proposal. Plans call for the development of eight sound studios, a 1,000-unit residential component, an office tower, a 1,400-space parking garage and retail space. The current studio is located at 42-22 22nd Street.
For the 2.2 million-square-foot project known as Silvercup West to begin, the New York Power Authority would have to remove and decommission the generators at a 79-megawatt generation station on the site. Permits lapsed about four years ago. [Curbed] — Mark Maurer
